After a throwaway comment by livii in their Rare Ships Month: Martha/Harry post, to which half a dozen of us replied with 'Oh, it wasn't just me who watched 'The Sontaran Stratagem' and extrapolated, then?', I decided it was high time for a Brig/Donna fic.

So I wrote one. It's a bit of a character study, a bit funny (hopefully) and a bit rude.

Firstly? Yard is mowed, but I still think it won...

Second...forgetting that my right arm is now my brute strength arm not so good...letting them tap it for the blood this morning was definite mistake. Ahh well, coming up on holidays and some other (3?) person will need it worse.

Third, my MP3 player owes me an apology. Do not fill my ears with sad schmoopy love songs while I can hear nothing but you and the mower, as it brings angst...on that note, Yena, would much like to finish the songfic of doom to make that bunny fully die!

Fourth...shower...definitely.

Right. I finished two ridiculously long and horrible exams today, and I'm dead-beat. If there's a word that means more than exhausted, that's me. BUT, on the bright side, once I collapse today, I've tomorrow off to rest, and I *might*, just might, actually get some stuff done. *cross fingers*

And completely unrelated, and apropos of nothing, I found a couple of lines of G.M. Hopkins poem 'The Windhover' that are awesome, and for some reason fit with DCAU Hawkgirl in my head:

"My heart in hiding 
Stirred for a bird,--the achieve of, the mastery of the thing! 
Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here"

Brute beauty and valour and act ... damnit, that's just ... Hats off to the manic-depressive little Jesuit, but he sure had a way with words! That line is going to stick in my head forever. More than just Shayera. That is so many of my favourite people ... just six words that perfectly encapsulate an ideal. Damn the man. It's gorgeous! 

If you missed it, I'm taking one request per friend on the flist here in celebration of merfilly having more than 200 mutual friends. I've written 20 drabbles, with one more pending as I write this.

I realize I haven't updated about my dermatologist appointment yesterday. Not that I expect anyone really cares, but I thought I'd say something anyway. I went and it was very quick, but nice. The doctor immediately determined I have severe acne with all the levels of horrible acne you can get (go me!). He confirmed what I had already suspected: this sort of acne isn't going to get cleared up by washing more or changing my diet. It might eventually go away on its own when I'm older, but only after probable scarring and such. The best way to treat it is drugs and creams, blah blah blah, and so forth.

And since I realize a tl;dr post about my acne is going to be TMI for almost everyone on my flist...
